Privacy Shielding against Mass Surveillance
نویسندگان
چکیده
Privacy Shielding against Mass Surveillance (PSMS) provides a step by step tactical approach to protecting the privacy of all the users of the internet from mass surveillance programs by the governments and other state agencies. Protection of one’s privacy is of prime importance and Privacy Shielding provides the right means against mass surveillance programs and from malicious users trying to gain access to your systems. Although protection is difficult when massive government agencies like the NSA and GCHQ target internet users for surveillance, it is possible because the target is not ‘you’ as an individual but the entire mass as a whole. With the right approach and a broad perspective of the term ‘Privacy’, it is possible for one to freely access and share information over the internet without being victims of surveillance. KeywordsAnonymity, Privacy, Protection, Surveillance.

Biometric authentication is the use of unique human features to provide a secure, reliable and convenient access to an environment or a computer system. However, there are numerous security and privacy concerns associated with the use of biometrics as a means of authentication. Unprotected biometric data can be used by an impostor to impersonate legitimate uses, to violate their privacy and ste...
متن کاملA Monte Carlo Study on the Shielding Properties of a Novel Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA)/WO3 Composite, Against Gamma Rays, Using the MCNPX Code
Background: In recent years, there has been an increased interest toward non-lead radiation shields consisting of small-sized filler particles doped into polymer matrices. In this paper, we study a new polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)/WO3 composite in the presence of high-energy gamma photons through simulation via the Monte Carlo N-Particle (MCNP) simulation code. Materia...
متن کاملPrivacy, the Workplace and the Internet
This paper examines workplace surveillance and monitoring. It is argued that privacy is a moral right, and while such surveillance and monitoring can be justified in some circumstances, there is a presumption against the infringement of privacy. An account of privacy precedes consideration of various arguments frequently given for the surveillance and monitoring of employees, arguments which lo...

Privacy issues related to mass surveillance received unprecedented attention in 2013 and 2014. While the debate so far has focused on internet-based surveillance, the concerns raised by increased awareness of state surveillance capabilities have far reaching consequences for discussions on legislation relating to security, privacy and liberty in a range of domains. Focusing on train/metro trave...
متن کاملDevices That Tell on You: Privacy Trends in Consumer Ubiquitous Computing
We analyze three new consumer electronic gadgets in order to gauge the privacy and security trends in mass-market UbiComp devices. Our study of the Slingbox Pro uncovers a new information leakage vector for encrypted streaming multimedia. By exploiting properties of variable bitrate encoding schemes, we show that a passive adversary can determine with high probability the movie that a user is w...
